Well, back in October I wished for an updated Mac mini. Didn’t get it. But now there are wide reports that next week’s MacWorld Steve Jobs-less keynote will finally unveil long overdue updates to the mini. Here’s hoping the reports are true and we’ll get NVidia-based minis. Can we wish (again) for lower prices? Maybe.

Speed Racer
I finally had a chance to watch Speed Racer on Blu-Ray. And, yes, I actually liked it. But then I was a big fan of the original Speed Racer cartoons as a kid. So I guess I appreciated the effort to make a modern live-action CGI fusion in the anime spirit of the original.
I can also see why the film floundered at the box office. The extreme bright color palette the filmakers chose leaned a bit to psychedelic… perhaps a bit too intense on the big screen for the family audience. And the story and dialogue, though true to it’s cartoon origins, was fairly simple. Big corporate bad guys. Straight arrow family good guys. Kinda appropriate in this turbulent month.
But on Blu-Ray the movie and it’s color overload shines. It truly is a supercharged live-action cartoon.
